10. jauno mediju kultūras festivāls “Māksla+Komunikācijas” ar nosaukumu “Spektropija” turpina mākslinieciskos meklējumus neredzamajā, mūs aptverošajā elektromagnētiskā spektra telpā. Festivāls notiks Rīgā no 16. līdz 19. oktobrim, 2008. Festivāla programmā: 3 dienu izstāde ar īpašu pasākumu programmu – eksperimentālo filmu seansiem, mākslinieku prezentācijām, radošajām darbnīcām, eksperimentālām laboratorijām (Rīgas Mākslas telpā, Rātslaukumā 1); starptautiska zinātniska konference (tiek organizēta sadarbībā ar LPA MPLab); performances un video programma (RIXC Mediju telpā, 11. Novembra krastmala 35, ieeja no Minsterejas ielas).

The 10th edition of the “Art+Communication” festival will take place in Riga from October 16 – 19, 2008. Entitled “Spectropia”, this year festival continues artistic explorations within the invisible space of electromagnetic spectrum surrounding us. The festival programme features: a 3-day exhibition with live events, workshops, experimental labs and artists presentations (at the new Riga City Exhibition Hall, Ratslaukums 1); an international conference (co-organised with MPLab of Liepaja University); performances, film and video screenings (at RIXC Media Space, 11. Novembra Krastmala 35).

>Art+Communication 2007 (Spectral Ecology)

Festivāls šogad notika Francijas Pavasara programmas ietvaros no 2007.
gada 31. maija līdz 10. jūnijam Rīgā, Liepājas Karostā un Aizputē.
Turpinot iepriekšējā festivālā aizsākto “viļņu” tēmu, šogad īpaši tika
aktualizēta “spektra ekoloģijas” tematika, lai pievērstu sabiedrības
uzmanību elektronisko tehnoloģiju neredzamajai pusei – elektromagnētiskā
starojuma (EMS) piesātinātajai videi un tās ietekmei uz cilvēku un dzīvo
dabu šodien un nākotnē.

This year the 9th international festival "Art+Communication" was taking
place within the framework of French Spring program from May 31 to June
10 2007 in Riga, Liepaja Karosta and Aizpute. Continuing the previous
theme of "waves" festival the guiding theme for this year was focused on
the relevance of "spectral ecology" in order to draw publics attention
to the invisible side of electronic technologies - the density of
electro-magnetic spectrum (EMS) in the environment and its effects on
human and living nature today and for years to come.

>Art+Communication 2006 (WAVES)

2006. gadā festivālam “Māksla + Komunikācijas”, tiek atzīmēta desmit gadu jubileja. Pirmo reizi festivāla ietvaros tiek rīkota plaša mēroga izstāde - “VIĻŅI”, kas aplūko elektromagnētiskos viļņus kā mediju un materiālu mākslā.
Izstādē iekļauti ap 40 starptautisku (mediju) mākslas darbu, kuru autori ir 70 mākslinieki no 18 dažādām valstīm. Šajos darbos elektromagnētiskie viļņi izmantoti ne vien kā informācijas nesēji, bet arī kā mākslas darba tēma un/vai tā materiāls.
Izstādi papildina festivāla programma, kuras ietvaros notiks starptautiska konference un mākslinieku prezentācijas, performances un klasisko un mūsdienu eksperimentālo filmu demonstrējumi.

In 2006 The "Art + Communication" festival, organised by the RIXC in Riga, celebrates its 10th anniversary and the 8th edition. For the first time the festival is conceived as a large-scale exhibition - "WAVES" that looks at electromagnetic waves as material and medium of art.
The WAVES exhibition brings together about 40 international works of (media) art by 70 artists from 18 different countries, in which electromagnetic waves are seen not just as carriers of information, but as the material and/or theme of the artwork.
The exhibition is complemented by a festival programme, consisting of a conference, open presentations, workshops, a performance programme and film screenings of classic and contemporary experimental movies.

>Art+Communication 2004 (Trans Cultural Mapping)

7. festivāla "Māksla + Komunikācijas: Kultūrkartēšana" norises - izstāde, divu dienu konference, skaņas un video performances, bija veltītas vietrādes mediju un sadarbības kartogrāfijas jautājumiem. Festivāls kalpoja kā noslēgums starptautiskajai programmai “Starpkultūru kartēšana” (TCM), kuras radošajās darbnīcās 2004. gada vasarā tika pētītas kartogrāfijas, lokalitātes un atvērtības politikas idejas, kas aktualizējušās līdz ar Eiropas paplašināšanos.

The events of the 7th festival "Art+ Communications: Trans Cultural Mapping" - exhibition, 2 day conference, sonic and visual performances were dedicated to the issues of locative media and collaborative cartography. The festival summed up the Trans-European Cultural Mapping (TCM) program that explored ideas of locality, cartography and the politics of open-systems in the context of European expansion, within the series of international workshops over the summer 2004.

>Art+Communication 2003 (Media Architecture)

2003. gada festivāls bija veltīts "mediju arhitektūras" tēmai. Festivāla ietvaros notika starptautiska konference par informācijas tīklu un post-modernās urbānās ģeogrāfijas savstarpējām sakarībām, uzmanību pievēršot arī GPS, mobilo tehnoloģiju un bezvadu tīklu attīstībai.
Vienotā vides koncepcija ("light affair") manifestēja RIXC topošās Mediju telpas procesuālās transformācijas un mediju sintēzes ideju.

The festival of the year 2003 has been devoted to the theme 'Media Architecture'. In the framework of the festival, there was also an international conference on the mutial relationships between post-modern urban geography and information networks, touching also GPS, mobile technologies and developments of wireless networks.
The unified concept 'Light Affair' manifested the idea of the developing RIXC 'media space' processual transformation and media sythesis.

>Art+Communication 2001

2001.gadā festivāls tika iekļauts Rīga - Eiropas Kultūras mēneša pilsēta programmā. Festivāla ietvaros notika starptautisks skaņu mākslas, radio un satelītu tehnoloģijas simpozijs "Acoustic Space Lab", seminārs "Jaunie mediji - akadēmiskā izglītība un nākotnes perspektīvas", grāmatas "net.art" prezentācijas, radošās darbnīcas, performance un HIP HOP LV projekts.

Year 2001 festival was a part of Riga-European Cultural Month programme. Festival events included: Acoustic.Space.Lab - an international symposium on radio wave and satellite technologies, seminar on "New media - academic education and future perspectives", "net.art" book presentation, Real-Time Audio/Video workshop and HIP HOP LV party.

>Art+Communication 2000 (Intercultural Jamming)

Kopš; 2000. gada festivālus organizē Jauno mediju kultūras centrs RIXC, kura dibinātāji ir vairākas Latvijas mediju organizācijas. "Intercultural jamming" festivāla ideja bija izpētīt "starpkultūru mijiedarbības" procesu veicināšanai ar mērķi radīt toleranci un atvērtu teritoriju kultūras apmaiņas attīstībai. Šādā kontekstā notika arī NICE sadarbības tīkla tikšanās, kas risināja dažādus jautājumus par jauno mediju un kultūrpolitikas attīstību Baltijas jūras un ZA-Eiropas reģionā.

Since 2000 the festivals are organised by the Centre for New Media Culture RIXC, which unites several active media organisations from Latvia. Named "Intercultural jamming" the festival aimed to promote tolerance and the development of an open territory for cultural exchange, beyond any separation or exclusion either on geographical, economical or political base. Within this framework also the NICE Network meeting on new media and cultural policy development in the Baltic Sea and North/East European region (and beyond) took place.

>Art+Communication 1998 (Xchange Unlimited)

1998. gada festivāls, kas saucās "Xchange Unlimited", tika organizēts kopā ar BIN (Baltic Interface Net) konferenci. Šī festivāla ietvaros notika arī Xchange net.radio sadarbības tīkla tikšanās un tika izstrādātas konceptuālas idejas Interfonda (virtuāls fonds, kas atbalstītu jauno mediju māksliniekus) izveidošanai.

Year 1998 festival, named "Xchange Unlimited" was held together with The Baltic Interface Net conference. The festival included Xchange network meeting and developed conceptual ideas for the Interfund - virtual foundation that would support new media artists.

>Art+Communication 1997 (Xchange)

1997. gadā festivāls ar nosaukumu "Xchange On-Air Session" pievērsās aktualitātēm, kas bija saistītas ar audio tiešraides tehnoloģiju parādīšanos; no visiem festivāla pasākumiem tika nodrošināta tiešraide tīklā.

The festival in 1997 with the tittle "Xchange On-Air Session" was devoted to emerging streaming audio technologies - all festival events were broadcasted live on-line.

>Art+Communication 1996

Pirmais jauno mediju kultūrai veltītais festivāls "Māksla+komunikācijas" notika Rīgā 1996. gadā, ko organizēja E-LAB. Tā ietvaros notika starptautiska konference par topošās informācijas sabiedrības sociālajiem un kultūras aspektiem un oficiāla Elektroniskās mākslas un mediju centra E-LAB atklāšana.

The first international new media festival in Riga was organised by E-LAB in 1996, with the focus on the social and cultural implication of the coming information society in Latvia.
